For the people making the IT decision

How buying through ITVC works.

Whether you manage business IT or handle software purchasing, start with the decision in front of you: new protection, a product change or an upcoming renewal.

  1. Share your requirements

Bring your user or device count, current tools and timing. If you already have a shortlist, include the vendor and product names.

  2. Compare the scope

Work through coverage, deployment and licensing questions with sales. Separate the product features from the services your team needs alongside them.

  3. Review before you buy

Ask for a quote with the exact edition, quantities, subscription term and inclusions. Confirm renewal terms, billing arrangements and responsibilities before approving a purchase.

Also considering Microsoft? Explore business software licensing or Microsoft 365 and Azure.

Before you choose

Security buying questions, answered.

Where should we start with business cybersecurity?

Start with what you need to protect and who will operate it. Endpoint security focuses on devices, email security on business messages, backup on recovery, and MDR on a provider’s investigation and response service. These categories can work together; one does not replace all the others.

What is the difference between EDR and MDR?

Endpoint detection and response (EDR) is technology for detecting and investigating activity on devices, with response capabilities. Managed detection and response (MDR) is a provider-delivered service. Compare the tools, signals and actions included in each proposal, rather than assuming the labels mean identical coverage.

What information helps with a security licensing quote?

Share the product or category, approximate users or devices, operating systems, existing subscriptions and your target date. Include the editions or service levels you are comparing. The applicable licensing model, availability and commercial terms need to be confirmed for the specific product.

Does ITVC operate the managed security service?

ITVC provides evaluation and procurement guidance. Managed detection and response is delivered by the selected provider, not an ITVC-operated security operations center. Your proposal should identify the provider and the responsibilities that remain with your team.
